Alexander McQueen ivory silk tulle empire line gown from “The Girl Who Lived In The Tree” collection.

Lady Gaga spent a fortune for this empire gown by Alexander McQueen at the Daphne Guinness auction in London. She joined the bidders of highly regarded and rich individuals in the fashion industry. Though she did not appear in the auction personally as she bid on the phone only, she managed to snatch a very priced 2008 creation of Alexander McQueen in the possession of beer heiress Daphne Guinness. She spent a whooping $133,075 for the gown which Guinness have sported herself for Harper’s Bazaar – as shown in photo below. Gaga, broke the record on bidding for a McQueen piece at an auction.

Who can beat that? Well, probably someone who has the heart to spent so much for a cause. The proceeds of the auction went to Isabella Blow Foundation, which Guinness founded after the death of her friend in 2007. The foundation offer support to young designers and fund research into depression and mental illness.

For people like us that is indeed quite pricey but for a celeb like Gaga that’s only a centavo, I guess :)

couldn’t agree more! The amount is not a big deal to her since she might be earning the money in just seconds of appearance somewhere. Oh well, at least she is doing it for a cause.
