For a Healthier and Shinier Hair – yes I know! I didn’t think aside from sipping it, my hair is also craving for it. Green tea is also known to stimulate hair growth and softens hair. For 15 minutes, steep 3-4 bags green tea bags in boiling water (half a liter) and allow to cool overnight or few hours if you are doing it during the day time. Wash hair (not necessarily shampooed) and then pour the cooled water with green tea onto your hair and leave it on for 10 minutes. Make sure you shampoo and condition your hair afterwards to seal in the shine.

Healthy Skin and Sunburn Remedy – a healthier skin with the help of green tea can also be achieved by using it externally.

Mix 100 grams of green tea in ½ liter of water and let it sit for 30-40 minutes at room temperature. Strain the liquid and store it in refrigerator. This mixture can be used to refresh your tired face or a treatment to cuts, blemishes, minor rashes and sun burns. This also will help clear acne from skin and prevents it from coming back.
On the other hand, Oligomeric proanthocyanidins is known to be one of the most powerful natural antioxidants and Green Tea is found to have this. This helps in keeping the skin youthful by slowing down its ageing process. Use Green Tea as a gentle exfoliator by mixing 1 teaspoon of green tea leaves to 3 teaspoons of yogurt and slowly massage it on face then let it stay for 5 minutes before washing the face with lukewarm watter.

Natural Sunscreen – The free radicals of the UV rays settling between skin cells weakens the healthy protection system of our skin resulting to unwanted formation of wrinkles in the skin. A sunscreen is a must in going out especially during times where the sun is up. Commercial sunscreens is undeniably expensive and some doesn’t even live up to their promises of protection. The good news is we can make our own sunscreen protection at home using the Green Tea we have.

Boil 2 cups of water with ½ cup of green tea leaves for 5-10 minutes on medium heat. Separate leaves and let the solution cool down. As simple as that! To apply, take a small quantity of the solution in a clean cotton ball and then apply it on a clean face. The rest of the solution you can store it in an air tight container. Use regularly.

Healthier Nails – Who wants brittle and yellow-ish nails? Not me definitely! For healthier and stronger nails and in gaining back its natural color, soak your nails in green tea (tea bag + warm water) ones a week. You can also use green tea essential oils as cuticle oil to fix brittle nails. Just add a drop of it to each nail ones or twice a week.

Hair Color Enhancer – surprise! Surprise! If you’re looking for a chemical-free alternative to dyeing your hair, try using tea. I’m talking about other natural teas such as the black tea (for brunette and black hair), chamomile (for blonde) or red/rooibos tea (redheads). Usually you just have to brew 3-5 tea bags much stronger than what you usually drink. Tea has natural staining properties and it’s richly colored anti-oxidants are perfect for adding some colour & shine to your hair! If you have just colored your hair from the salon, you can use green tea in washing your hair to bring out its color and enhance it plus it brings out shinier locks.
