by pinksoda

For some people, stopping smoking can be an overwhelming task. Smoking is both a physiological and physical addiction. Temptations are everywhere. However, by quitting smoking, you can improve the overall health of yourself and those around you. You will also put thousands of dollars back into your pockets.

To start a smoking cessation program, you will need to make a firm commitment. Write down all the reason you want to quit. Since you will need the support of friends and family, let them know that you plan to quit smoking. Next, set a day to begin. Once you have a date in mind, begin clearing out temptations. Throw away all smoking accessories. This process should be done inside your home and car. Whenever possible, wash your drapes and blankets to rid them of cigarette odor.

For most people, following a seven day program helps with quitting smoking. During the first seven days, drink a large glass of grapefruit juice before every meal. After every meal, brush your teeth thoroughly. If you have the urge to smoke, chew on a piece of cinnamon gum. Try to keep both your mind and body occupied. Consume at least eight glasses of water each day. Several times a day, read your deceleration statement. Most of all, do not give up. It may take several tries before you are successful.
