The Katniss Everdeen Opening Ceremony Look

by pinksoda

I watched The Hunger Games couple of days ago and up until now I am not over at raving about how great the movie was! I have to stop myself from talking much about it since, well I am here in my beauty and fashion blog :). To those who haven’t watched The Hunger Games, you better get your pretty ass*s off your chair and head to your favorite movie house to catch the action-packed movie. And I am telling you fashionistas, the movie is not just about fighting, stabbing, outwitting and killing each other! There’s so much fashion in it too! The citizens at the Capitol, they are fabulously colorful and dazzling! As in I must say, super! It’s like watching Lady Gaga multiplied :).

Okay, there you go I have said so much already! See? I am that excited everytime I talk about The Hunger Games. Well, anyway if you’ve watched it, I am betting you’ll agree when I say that the introduction and parade of the tributes to the opening ceremony was one hell of a scene! One of the best scenes in the movie. We saw how Katniss Everdeen evolved from a free-spirited and loving sister to a fierce, beautiful and almost emotionless warrior. She was blazing with hotness (literally and figuratively). Thanks to VE NEILL for creating that “relatively clear of make up, just a bit of highlighting here and there” look of Katniss Everdeen.

VE NEILL is not just your ordinary makeup artist. She has earned 21 international nominations and wins for her creative and innovative makeup, including three Academy Awards, two Emmy Awards and four Saturn Awards. Beat that! So how did she brought Katniss Everdeen’s introduction to the Capitol to life? Here’s a scoop of Allure regarding the look.

Eyes: Neill used M.A.C. Eyeshadow in Orange to create the flare in the outer corners before lining her eyes in black cream liner. She added Urban Decay False Lashes in Lure for extra intensity. “The more makeup you put on a beautiful woman, the more exotic and mature she looks,” said Neill. “We wanted to keep her looking really youthful.”

Cheeks: Neill drew attention to her “beautiful, heart-shaped face” by highlighting her cheekbones with M.A.C. Lustre Drops in Sunrush (a liquid gold highlighter).

Lips: Those lips (which spend the last half of the Games kissing Peeta) were amped up with L’Oréal Infallible Lipgloss in Fiery (a bronzey pink). “We wanted it to be clean, crisp beauty with touches of color,” Neill said.”

So there you go! I hope you get a good beauty and makeup tips from that! :). May the odds be forever in your favour.
