Cebu Food Crawl 2016 : Day 2 Happy Birthday To ME
August 27 and it’s day 2 of the Food Crawl and I am excited, not just of our itinerary of the day but also because it’s my special day a.k.a my birthday! This is one of the reasons actually why I decided to join the food crawl because I thought of celebrating my birthday out of town for a change. I am not actually big with birthdays but since the food crawl schedule fell within my birthdate so I thought, what the heck! why not go? And again, I am happy that I did! I definitely had a blast.
So on day 2, we started the day a bit early and we were on for a plant tour at Profood International Corporation then a quick stop at Jasmin Cafe before heading to Shangrila Hotel and Resort for our one of a kind food adventure. We also went to for a food experience at District 53rd then capped off the night for spicy wings treat for dinner at Gibbs Hot Wings.
The #OOTD
Alright, let’s start with the OOTD (Outfit of the Day). Some of you might’ve seen this outfit before since I blogged about it few weeks back – How to Wear Stripes. I decided to sport a casual, a little sexy, and comfy look so I wore my stripes long dress again and paired it with my merrell slipons.

After our visit at Profood International Corporation main headquarter and processing plant in Mandaue City where we had a glimpse on how some of their products were processed such as the dried mangoes and canned juices, the group made a stop-over at Jasmin Cafe.
Jasmin Cafe is a small Korean themed coffee shop brewing along F. Cabahug Mabolo, Cebu City owned by the very nice Jasmin, a Korean national who have mastered the art of coffee making by roasting and making their own coffee.
What makes Café Jasmin unique apart from the book treats at the second floor (you can borrow and read while enjoying your coffee) is the fact that they do not just sell their costumers coffee but they also educate them (great news for those who are having a hard time choosing their caffeine fix!). Get to know the difference between Arabica, robusta, and ethiopia beans and choose which works best for you at the moment.
Café Jasmin also has some savory meals on their menu that goes along perfectly with your coffee. You can choose from sandwiches, creamy chicken carbonara, and baked lasagna.
We also had the opportunity to meet Cebuano-Japanese poet, Kota Yamada who just had his maiden book published entitled Lost Hearts.
Cafe Jasmin introduces the bi-weekly meetup of all art aficionados for some songs and performances called Stain that will run every other week.
So you coffee lovers like me, if you are looking for a quiet place to study, think, chitchat with friends over a nicely blended coffee, or when you need your coffee fix, head to Café Jasmin!

We capped off the night with a spicy treat at Gibbs Hot Wings. I am a huge sucker of spicy chicken so to me, that was an awesome way to end my birthday treat!
The place is a small yet cozy place setup at the owner’s house extension giving the diners the homey feel when in Gibbs.
Known for their signature hot wings, the choices come from level 1 to 5, 5 being the most spicy and is said to be for the daredevils or those who dig “spicy” big time! For those who does not really enjoy the spicy flavor that much, Gibbs got you covered! Get the Angel Wings instead as its flavor is mild tender lathered with all sorts of cheeses!
If you’re visiting Gibbs’ Hot Wings for the first time, here are the recommended dishes to try;
Wasabi Wings – chicken wings double cooked in their signature wasabi sauce, topped with Japanese nori.
Spicy Honey Garlic Chicken Wings – just right to every Pinoy’s taste buds.! Who doesn’t love the sweet and spicy fusion? Enjoy your chicken wings glazed with spicy honey sauce and garlic bits.
Cajun Hot Wings – the newest addition to the menu. It has a smokey and mild-spicy taste though you can go for the cajun fiery hot wings if you are at Gibbs for the spicy treat.
Pohtacos – unique and tasty appetizer! Instead of Taco, Gibbs’ innovation is awesomely delish! Potacos is made of crispy potato chips topped with taco-flavored toppings of ground meat, melted cheese, onions, and lettuce producing a playful taste.
There’s more to try at Gibbs’ Hot Wings so when in Cebu do include the place in your “must-visit” list!
Do watch out for my separate post for our one of a kind food tasting experience at Shangrila Hotel real soon!
